Customer Reviews about Bank of Putnam County:

My wife and I went to Bank of Putnam county to see about a land loan. My wife had been a reliable customer of Matt Means for 4 years. On our first visit we had lots of questions about what we would need to get the loan Matt ignored all of our questions and basically told us everything looked ok and to come back when we had money.Later that week we signed a contract to purchase the land which was emailed to Matt by our realtor. After 2 weeks we had the money and began calling on monday to set up an appointment after 2 days of getting secretaries and answering machines we were able to make an appointment for thursday at 8 am. We came to the meeting with all the relevant paperwork and cash he had said he needed for the down payment. We had lots of questions still but were cut off before we could ask any. He had us put our names on a credit application and said he didn't need us to fill out the rest (which seemed odd) we handed him our car title and w2's. He continues to neither ask or answer any questions and told us he would call us to let us know something by 2 pm that day. I waited until 3 pm and called the bank after talking to 2 secretaries who transferred me again to an answering machine. Matt called me around 4 and said he was busy and had not had time to look over our numbers and that we would let me know no later than tomorrow. The closing date of the purchase agreement contract we had signed was drawing near. So I called my realtor and told him that Matt keeps saying he is busy and that I was becoming concerned about being able to close and the the attitude Matt was presenting himself. My realtor said he would email him and let him know our closing date was approaching and that his customer (me) was starting to consider financing elsewhere. Matt Means then take the time out of his busy schedule to call me and with an absolutely hateful attitude tells me "I just got a disturbing email form your realtor. I want you to know that I am not going to be pressured into moving a closing date." This confused and upset me because the tone in which he delivered the message was the absolute most unprofessional phone call i have ever experienced. I attempted to explain I had called my realtor to let him know I was having trouble staying in contact with Matt so that we would be able to file an extension if it were to run over our original closing date. But before I could explain Matt interrupted me and told me to listen to him and continued to explain that the ball was in his court and that we were to play according to how he dictated this. Also belligerently adding "No other banker would even begin to consider giving you a loan." To beat all he then took even more time out of his "busy" schedule to call my realtor and very hatefully tell him off for trying to "pressure him onto a closing date." I have never been so disrespected in professional environment. This man made it clear that his methods of doing business do not go further than lies and intimidation. I felt compelled to write this review because Matt Means conduct was not only unacceptably unprofessional but they way he treated me and my realtor clearly illustrates that he believe he is a higher class of human than the rest of us and that he actually enjoys making people fear and look up to him as a man who has the authority to wipe his ass with peoples dream as hes sees fit. I this review will prevent someone from thinking this man is a person to do business with and that this will save them the trouble of being taken advantage of. I feel sorry for Matt there are other, better ways to business with people. I could expound as to my theory behind his motivations for treating us like this but I will refrain because it disgusts me. I will be praying for you Matt you desperately need Yeshua (Jesus Christ) in your life.
